STUDENTS' ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION TOP 3 WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT
Today we put a cover on the “KUBWE CHARITY FOUNDATION STUDENTS’ ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION” under the theme “Sanitary pads should be free; condoms should be sold. Sex is a choice; menstruation is not”. We appreciated the diversity of ideas creativity and the level of knowledge displayed by each and every participant.
The rationale behind this competition theme, was not
merely engaging students but also highlighting the need for NGOs and governments
efforts and investment to ensure availability and accessibility of sanitary
pads.
On the other hand, as put forward by some of the
contestants, it should be noted that condoms availability is paramount as far
as human health is concerned. However, same or even more effort should be
mobilized to ensure sanitary pads accessibility since it is every female needs
in her reproductive age. With the overall goal of making sanitary pads
affordable to the users, the government of Rwanda exempted VAT on them.
However, many are yet to be done by concerned entities and NGOs to make sure
that sanitary pads prices are lowered even more and be free for girls from
underprivileged families.
So, here are the top 3 winners of the competition and the link to their essays:
