Why Kubwe Charity Foundation (KCF)

About 300 million women including school girls experience menstrual flow daily worldwide. And 41% of school girls in developing countries miss school for about 5 days per month as a result of menstruation. Accessibility to sanitary pads is a key factor to curb this problem since it helps menstruator to be comfortable within that period.

Regardless of different forms and thickness, pads should be changed regularly in 3 to 4 hours to prevent both infection and unpleasant odour. Unhygienic practices during menstruation period endanger female’s health and may put her in risk of developing different infections. Availability and accessibility to sanitary pads is paramount as long as female health is concerned.

Despite its necessity, adolescents from economically unstable families are hindered by financial means to access sanitary pads. In addition, there is a lack of emergency pads for school girls who get their menstruation unexpectedly.

There is a need of synergistic collaboration from different sectors and projects initiatives to ensure sanitary pads accessibility. Moreover, education and training for the proper use of sanitary pad is needed in adolescents, hand in hand with sensitization of the general population to end period stigma. This is Kubwe Charity Foundation’s overall driving force. For menstruation is healthy!
